The Church in Society Committee calls the attention of the congregation to needs in the community and beyond and encourages actions to meet those needs, often in collaboration with other faith communities.

The Library Committee maintains the church library which is open each Sunday morning at the same time as the educational hour. They provide the staff needed to catalog and preparing shelves, organize books and other materials, order new books, coordinate book sales, and maintain files.
The Worship and Music Committee discusses and acts on issues pertaining to the different aspects of the worship experience.

The Stewardship Committee role is to initiate and incorporate stewardship planning throughout the year.
The Committee coordinates the annual Time, Talent and Treasure campaign. The congregation's commitment to the success of First English shows by it generous continued support. We have many talented members contributing their talents in various ways.
The focus of the Mission Team is to reach out to the community and beyond with a "hammer and nail ministry".
The Mission Team has traveled to various communities such as Ocean Springs, Mississippi and St. Johns Island, South Carolina, to work in food kitchens, distribution centers and day cares. They help rebuild homes by doing electrical and plumbing work, paint and drywall, repair floors and foundations, do finishing work and anything else that needs to be done.
The Parish Education Committee plans and prepares the curriculum for the Sunday School, cordinates the educational staff and educational needs of the congregation. They also coordinate activites such as the Children's Christmas service and the teacher appreciation dinner.
First English provides Christian education for everyone from students ages 3 through 8th grade, Youth Forum for grades 9 to 12, and Adult Forum or Bible studies for the adults. The educational hour is usually held from 9:15 to 10:15 on Sunday mornings.
The Charity Circle meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. with the exception of July and August. The meetings involve a Bible study, fellowship and outreach projects.

Shalom Circle meets on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. except for the months of July and August. The meetings involve a Bible Study and a book study.

The quilters meet every Tuesday morning from 9 to 11:30 a.m. They completed 150 quilts in 2009. The quilts are given to the Neighbor's Place, Lutheran World Relief, The Women's Community and the Salvation Army where they are dispersed to the needy. A small quilt is also give to each baby being baptized. No sewing experience is necessary to be a quilter. If you can tie a knot, you can help make a quilt.
The Friendly Neighbors is for retired members. This group meets on the 3rd or 4th Thursday afternoon of every month except during July and August. The meetings open with a Bible study followed by a variety of programs that provide fellowship, education or entertainment. Some of the programs include videos, musical guests, and informational presentations.
The Retired Men's Breakfast group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at Denny's Restaurant. The breakfast involves a Bible Study, discussion and fellowship.
The Retired Women's group meets for lunch on the second Thursday of the month at 11:30 a.m. The luncheon involves a Bible Study or topic of interest, discussion and fellowship.
The Senior Choir provides the music ministry for our church services, leads the congregation in learning new hymns or liturgies and enhances the worship experience. They meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. except for the months of June through August.
Choir highlights:
Once a week a "Shepherd" visits church members registered at the hospital. Companionship, compassion, prayers and appropriate pamphlets can be offered. Some Shepherds also visit one or several homebound or institutionalized members.
Flowers that grace the altar on Sundays are delivered to homebound members. They also delivered small mum plants at Easter and small poinsettias during the Christmas season.
Each summer during the Wisconsin Valley Fair, First English sets up a fair stand. We reach out to the community through the food stand and also through the monetary contributions made from the earnings. Of the earnings, over $12,000 was given back to the community or used for special needs within the church.
